Mystery Death: Coroner identifies Scott Scruggs Upstate man killed when boat capsized in Lake Murray

How does a man die still wearing his life vest?
WYFF 4 reports the missing boater found dead Sunday morning on Lake Murray has been identified by the county coroner.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the man as 26-year-old Jonathan Scott Scruggs of Gaffney.

His body was recovered around 10 a.m. Sunday near Goat Island on Lake Murray. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Monday to determine the cause of death.

The boat that capsized with two boaters aboard was pulled from the lake by emergency crews close to 2 p.m. on Sunday.

A Department of Natural Resources spokesman said around 7:30 p.m. a distress call went out for a capsized boat on Lake Murray near Amicks Ferry Road.

We're told one boater was able to swim to shore while the other, Scruggs,
was reported missing. According to officials, Scruggs was wearing a life vest when he disappeared. His body was found with the life vest still on.
