Two Louisiana university students Annette January and Lashuntai Benton shot, killed

Annette January

Don’t know if this was the wrong place, wrong time kind of deal.
It doesn’t make sense.

Fox News reports police in Louisiana say two college students were shot and killed early Sunday in front of an apartment building in Baton Rouge near Louisiana State University.

Baton Rouge police said one of the Southern University students was pronounced dead at the scene. The other died later at a hospital. Both were 19.

The president of Southern University identified the victims as Annette January, a freshman track and field athlete from Gary, Indiana; and Lashuntai Benton, a sophomore student athletic trainer from Lake Charles, Louisiana, Fox 8 Live reported.

When cops responded to the scene at the Cottages Apartments on Ben Hur Drive at 2 a.m. Sunday, they also found a third shooting victim. The victim, a 24-year-old man, was expected to survive.

Police said they had no suspects or motive.

Southern University President Ray Belton confirmed the deaths of the two students with “deep sadness,” Fox 8 reported.
