Irrelevant Conservative George Will leaves Republican party because of Trump, Will won’t be missed

It took Donald Trump to get George Will out of the GOP?
I left the Republican Party 15 years ago because I saw the direction it was going then.  George Will is emblematic of what’s wrong with the GOP.  He’s soft, has no guts, and at the same time thinks he knows better than anybody else when he doesn’t know anything relevant to how the base of the party feels.  Trump is the solution to getting things right again but Will is too blinded by his own arrogance to see it.    So Will can take nice walk over to the ash heap of history knowing he was part of the problem and not a solution.
NY Post reports George Will is no longer a Republican — and it’s all Donald Trump’s fault, the famed conservative columnist said Sunday.

“I left it for the same reason I joined it in 1964 when I voted for Barry Goldwater. I joined it because I was a conservative. But I leave for the same reason, that I’m a conservative,” Will told Fox News Sunday.

Will chalked up his departure to Trump’s ascension — along with the Republican party’s embrace of its presidential candidate.
“To give you a time line, shortly after Trump became the presumptive nominee, he had a summit meeting with Paul Ryan where they stressed their common principles and their vast shared ground, which is much more important than their differences. I thought that was puzzling doubly so because Paul Ryan still didn’t endorse him,” Will said today.

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, George!

  1. You and I are similar, but different. Until George Bush's run against Clinton, I had NEVER voted Republican in response the mixed blessings of Johnson (I liked the first few years of his Civil Rights Acts) and to the bad taste Nixon left in my mouth-- Clinton was beyond the pale even before the jism smears on the black dress I would rather not have heard about.
I am still not a Republican any more than voting constantly for them since then as the best of several bad choices. 2016? There does not seem to be a best, only one a few shades of dark less than total evil who will give me maybe terminal butt clenches to vote for. I have despised Trump and his New Yawk arrogance actually longer than Hilarity's criminal arrogance.
That seems to leave me with the words of Tiny Tim, "And God bless us, everyone" because NEITHER of the world class white trash we are being offered would seem to care to do that despite campaign slogans.

    1. There is no such thing as a perfect candidate. Having said that I believe Trump is by light years a better choice than Hillary.
