Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, Caught After Shootout With Linden Police, Authorities Say

Thank God they caught the Son of a Bitch!
CBS News reports investigators say they have “no indication” that the suspect in the bombings that rocked Chelsea and Seaside Park, New Jersey was part of broader cell.

Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, was captured Monday after an intense manhunt ended with him being wounded in a gun battle with Linden police.

Rahami is expected to be charged in Union County with two counts of attempted murder of a police officer, among other charges.

Linden Mayor Derek Armstead said the break in the case came when the owner of a bar reported someone asleep in his doorway. A police officer went to investigate and recognized the man as Rahami, police and the mayor said.

“The suspect pulled out a gun and fired at the officer and striking him in the abdomen,” Capt. James Sarnicki with Linden police told CBS2. “The gentlemen got up and started walking down the street in a westerly direction. I’m told that he was randomly discharging his handgun and one of the officers was able to get close enough to him and return fire.”
