I lived in New York all my life.  It’s news when somebody DOESN'T get killed at the West Indian Day Parade.
This stuff doesn’t happen at the Puerto Rican Day parade which is a bigger event than this one.  Whys is that?

Daily Mail reports the two people shot dead at New York’s annual West Indian carnival have been identified as a female college student and a Bronx teenager.

St John’s University student Tiarah Poyau, 22, and Tyreke Borel, 17, were shot dead at the J’Ouvert parade, which is fast gaining a reputation for violence and bloodshed, police said.

The shootings came amid unprecedented precautions taken by police to ensure safety a year after Governor Andrew Cuomo's aide was killed by a stray bullet at the early-morning celebration.

In a news conference on Monday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said that 'all options are on the table' when answering questions concerning the future of J'Ouvert and if it might be canceled following the two tragic deaths, the New York Post reported.
