First of all our attorney general is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Secondly, this so-called probe is ALL about politics.  The Clinton Crime Family Foundation is also registered in New York.  But, Schneiderman doesn't see any wrong doing going on over there.  Gimmie a break!

NY Post reports President-elect Trump announced Saturday he will shutter his foundation and redistribute its assets, but Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said the shutdown can’t happen while the state is still probing the charity.

Trump said he was “very proud of the money that has been raised for many organizations in need” by the Donald J. Trump Foundation but did not want it to distract him from running the country.
“Because I will be devoting so much time and energy to the Presidency and solving the many problems facing our country and the world, I don’t want to allow good work to be associated with a possible conflict of interest,” Trump said in a statement.

“To avoid even the appearance of any conflict with my role as President I have decided to continue to pursue my strong interest in philanthropy in other ways,” he added.

Trump’s foundation, which had about $1.16 million in its account at the end of 2015, and his family’s charities have been a target for critics who argue donors to the nonprofits could seek to gain political favors and access to the White House.
