Six months after the killing of Karina Vetrano, I thought this case was going to go unsolved.
But, now there's an arrested and the suspect is the son of a retired school principal who claims his son is humble and a crime victim. I have no other information other than something don't feel right. Nevertheless, this suspect is going to need a damn good lawyer.
New York Daily News reports the man accused of killing Queens jogger Karina Vetrano lived at home with his mother and was flagged three times for summonses around the rural park before the savage slaying, authorities said Sunday.Chanel Lewis, 20, is expected to be arraigned on murder and sexual assault charges after DNA recovered from her body and phone linked him to the crime, officials said.Lewis also offered “detailed incriminating statements and admissions” to detectives, NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said.Cops arrested Lewis around 6 p.m. Saturday outside his home.Vetrano's parents Phil and Cathie, said they were relieved to know the accused killer had been identified.“The demon must get his justice,” Cathie said outside her home. “We will see to it.”Phil said he had mixed emotions about the arrest.“I’m not going to say it is a good day but we can move forward now,” he said. “We know who did this.”
