Mets make odd choice: Mets agree to hire Brodie Van Waganen as GM

Leave to the Mets to make an odd choice.
This wasn't the one I wanted for the job.  I rooted for Kim Ng who I believe was the best candidate out there.  What makes this choice so odd is that Van Wagenen has no experience running a baseball front office.  He's a sports agent.  It doesn't mean he can't do a good job.  We'll find out soon enough.  But, the Wilpons do what what they do best, curious choices.
The Score reports the New York Mets appear to have found their next general manager, agreeing to terms with Brodie Van Wagenen to take over the role left vacant by Sandy Alderson, reports MLB.com's Anthony DiComo

The hiring will become official at a Citi Field press conference some time this week after the World Series concludes.

Van Wagenen, an agent with CAA, secured the job over two other finalists in Tampa Bay Rays senior vice president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom and former Texas Rangers and Milwaukee Brewers GM Doug Melvin.
