According to publishedreports Mets manager Mickey Callaway called a beat writer for Newsday a
"mother fucker."
and wanted PR staff to throw him out the clubhouse. After the reporter wouldn't leave, Mets pitcher Jason Vargas threatened to, "Knock him the fuck out!" He was restrained from going after the reporter by Noah Syndergaard and Carlos Gomez.

The Sporting News reports the Mets addressed the incident in a statement later Sunday."The Mets sincerely regret the incident that took place with one of our beat writers following today's game in the clubhouse," the statement read. "We do not condone this type of behavior from any employee."The organization has reached out and apologized to this reporter and will have further discussions internally with all involved parties."
