Trump in Iowa: President calls for barring immigrants from welfare for five years

How about barring them for 20 years?
Fox News reports President Trump announced Wednesday night that he will soon ask Congress to pass legislation banning immigrants from accessing public assistance within five years of entering the U.S.

“The time has come for new immigration rules that say ... those seeking immigration into our country must be able to support themselves financially and should not use welfare for a period of at least five years," Trump told a campaign-style rally in Grand Rapids, Iowa.

Trump's proposal would build on the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, which allows federal authorities to deport immigrants who become public dependents within five years of their arrival. Many of that law’s provisions were rolled back during the George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations, but Trump's proposal would make more categories of federal benefits off-limits to immigrants.

  1. Why should an immigrant ever be allowed to access government aid? We need to close the borders totally and start mass deportations.

  2. They're not immigrants, and I wish they'd stop describing invaders as such.

  3. If he tried to go for the 20 year option, the Democrats and the Rove Republicans would impeach and remove him. They salivating for the chance to do so.

He is merely using the Communist approach right back at them:
They "negotiate" something they want, although it might not be all the way there. Then a little later they "renegotiate" the same thing and get a little closer. And so on. And so on. President Trump recognizes that, and is giving it back to them in spades!
