Did Los Angeles 17-year-old teen really die dies of coronavirus or septic shock?

Since before the coronavirus pandemic started, the quality of news reporting has been less than stellar. 
Case in point: It was widely reported in print media that a Los Angeles teen died of coronavirus because he didn't receive care because he had no health insurance.  This is how the headline reads: 

17-year-old dies of coronavirus, was turned away for lacking insurance

The story was published first in the UK's Daily Mail and other news organizations picked it up such as the New York Post.  Many other people found the story on Facebook and other social media.

But, when you read the article itself, this is what is says:

A Los Angeles teen — who tested positive for the coronavirus — died of septic shock after being turned away from an urgent care facility because he didn’t have health insurance.

While the 17-year old’s positive COVID-19 test didn’t arrive until after his death, residents of the LA neighborhood of Lancaster are outraged.

The story clearly says the teen died of septic shock, not coronavirus.  According to Sepsis.org, Sepsis is the body’s overwhelming and life-threatening response to infection that can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death. In other words, it’s your body’s overactive and toxic response to an infection.  The infection is in the blood stream, not his respiratory system which cornonavirus attacks. 

So once again, we're getting misleading information from the news media.

I've seen dozes of stories like this whereby a person dies of an underlying condition that would eventually kill them anyway.  However, Covid-19 is given the credit as a cause of death. 

 

Globally around an average of fifty-five million people die every year.  All causes : old age, heart despise, cancer, car accidents, plague, war… 

This is my concern.  We're taking the normal mortality of the world and affixing Covid-19 and selling it as new!  

But, is it really?
