Why couldn’t the United States be more like Sweden in how they're dealing with Covid-19?

This needs some serious examination because unlike the rest of the world, Sweden is taking an opposite approach in how they're dealing with coronavirus. 
They're not scaring their people to death.  Their lives are continuing as normal.  It's easy to follow the crowd like the United States is doing.  But, not Sweden.  And their economy is still humming!
