Reggie Jackson pushes for Steve Cohen’s Mets purchase amid Bill de Blasio drama

Reggie Jackson is a heavy hitter compared to utter fool Bill de Blasio mwho could ge elected dog catcher.

NY Postreports Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson tweeted out his support for Steve Cohen’s bid to become the new Mets owner, following The Post’s report that Mayor Bill de Blasio is trying to halt the hedge fund billionaire’s purchase of the team.

“Wishing my friend and New Yorker Steve Cohen, a successful MLB vote Friday to join Baseballs fraternity. He’s a lifetime fan. He’s wanted the team since the day I ‘Met’ him,” Jackson wrote on Twitter. “I’m sure he’ll get the great Met franchise back on its winning ways. MLB and the city need him. Go my man”

In late 2019, Jackson told The Post that he’d spoken with Cohen on numerous occasions in the previous 10-15 years about forming an ownership group.

“He was just dead stuck on the Mets,” Jackson said then. “I have tried to talk to him about the Dodgers and the A’s and a couple of other teams and he said, ‘Reggie, I might be interested in the Dodgers, my daughter goes to college in that area, but I live [in Connecticut] and I’m a Mets fan and that is kind of where my focus is. If there is ever an opportunity, that is where it would be.’ ”
