Religious Freedom upheld: Justice Department backs Catholic Church in its firing of openly gay teacher


This is an area that President Trump is standing firm, the religious freedom of Americans in how they run their organizations. 

Fox News reports The U.S. Department of Justice issued a statement of interest Friday in support of the  Archdiocese of Indianapolis over a decision that led to the firing of a Catholic teacher in a same-sex marriage, according to a report.

The Justice Department's statement says the First Amendment gives the diocese the right to apply Catholic doctrine in employment decisions, The Indianapolis Star reported.
