This is a real world example why alternative fuels do not work when it's really needed.
If Texas didn't have wind turbines, millions would be nice and warm today with good fossil fuels like oil, gas, and electricity. But, no! They needed wind and solar! In Texas of all places?AustinAmerican Statesman reports nearly half of Texas' installed wind power generation capacity has been offline because of frozen wind turbines in West Texas, according to Texas grid operators.
Wind farms across the state generate up to a combined 25,100 megawatts of energy. But unusually moist winter conditions in West Texas brought on by the weekend's freezing rain and historically low temperatures have iced many of those wind turbines to a halt.
As of Sunday morning, those iced turbines comprise 12,000 megawatts of Texas' installed wind generation capacity, although those West Texas turbines don't typically spin to their full generation capacity this time of year.

Liberals can't do anything right. When I lived in Seattle about a decade ago, the City banned 'inhumane' trapping and switched to 'Green' policies for pest control. Five years later, Seattle ranked 1st in rat and lice infestations and second in roaches, according to HUD's own numbers. The lakes at the City parks are crowded with wild geese and the grounds are laced with gophers and moles. But at least all of the golf courses, boating and country clubs shut down and left town; so the Communists were happy.

DeleteRenewable energy in Texas represents less than 10% of the electric generation capability. That is verifiable fact. 22 years ago, it was recommended after rolling blackouts in Texas, that the natural gas plants be winterized. They were not. Also verifiable fact. Texas gets most of its generation from natural gas plants. Verifiable fact. Texas owns 23% of the entire country's natural gas reserves. Verifiable fact. Your conclusions are agenda driven, and frankly, wrong.
