Man shot after trying to attack cop with hammer at Notre Dame, Good thing French Cops have guns not like Brits un armed Cops

Good guy with a gun kills the bad guy before attack gets out of hand. 
The British needs to ditch their tradition of having unarmed police.  It doesn't serve their citizens well in terms of providing maximum security.

NY Post reports a man shouting “It’s for Syria!” went after cops patrolling the esplanade near Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris on Tuesday – injuring one before being shot and wounded, according to reports.

The incident, which sparked a panic among sightseers, prompted French authorities to launch an anti-terror probe, according to the Paris prosecutor’s office.

Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said the attacker yelled about Syria as he targeted the officers in front of the iconic landmark on the banks of the Seine river.

He was believed to be an Algerian student, CNN reported.

“The man approached a police officer, took a hammer from his backpack and hit the police officer over the head,” police spokesman Yves Lefebvre said, The Guardian of the UK reported.
