Ultra Leftist CA Gov. Gavin Newsom signs bill allowing citizen to refuse to help a police officer

This is a ridiculous law that further alienates the police.
No wonder why people are fleeing California I droves.

Fox News reports Gov. Gavin Newsom, the California Democrat, on Tuesday signed a bill that no longer requires any "able-bodied person 18 years of age or older" in the state to help an officer who requested assistance during an arrest.

The Sacramento Bee reported that the old law, the California Posse Comitatus Act of 1872, was common in the country’s early days, but Sen. Bob Hertzberg, a Los Angeles Democrat who sponsored the bill, called the old law a “vestige of a bygone era." The law had been employed to help catch runaway slaves, the report said.

  2. Why would anyone help those asshats if they don't have to help us (and they don't, to quote Aesop quoting Stengel "you could look it up")? No one seems to be able to give a cogent, well thought out answer to that.

  3. Well, I will still offer assistance if asked. Most cops I have met I get along with well, of course, I'm not an asshole.

  4. "The law was employed to help catch runaway slaves." What a bizarre point to bring up. As slavery has been illegal in the US for over 150 years, the law would have nothing to do with catching runaway slaves today. How would the governor reply if I said, "I refuse to pay my taxes because 200 years ago tax dollars were used to catch runaway slaves"? Or, "I refuse to get a license plate for my car because during World War 2 cars with license plates were used to take people of Japanese descent to relocation camps"?
